Accomplishments

Adopted Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to support students academically and social/emotionally.

Hired student support specialists for every site to help with social and emotional needs
Approved a three tiered mental health support system with numerous outside resources to support our staff (mental health tele-medicine appointments year round for students and staff, Mental Health Interns overseen by District Mental Health Coordinator, contracts with Mental Health Providers for referral)
Hired english and math intervention teachers at all elementary schools
Supported additional sections of math and english intervention and after school programs at secondary sites

Established dual language immersion program at Sutherland Elementary beginning August 2024. The program consists of 50/50 instruction in Spanish with the ideal class mix being Native Spanish Speakers and English students.
Partnered with The Glendora Education Foundation to support construction of STEAM labs in all elementary schools (ready fall 2024) and Middle Schools (ready early 2025) and expanded after-school STEAM programs and enrichment.

Hired a designated teacher for the curriculum of these STEAM labs and additional dollars for instructional assistants. This program will be part of student’s curriculum.

Supported and improved implementation of a State of the Art Aviation Program at Glendora High School, where students will be earning flight hours towards certification. Additional flight simulators are being utilized by middle school GATE workshops.
Secured salary increases and reduced benefit costs for all employees.
Partnered with the City of Glendora and signed a historical Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that defines our facilities shared use policies, Student Resource Officers (Glendora Police Department) and Crossing Guards. There are many synergies between GUSD and the City of Glendora, this document will make additional partnerships equitable and beneficial for both parties.
